Muscle Building Sleep Hack #1: Get Enough Sleep
Simply put your muscles repair, grow and recover while you sleep.
This is the time when the most natural growth hormone and other anabolic hormones are released so you need to ensure you’re getting enough sleep to fully recover and grow bigger and stronger.
Now I know it can be difficult when you get deep into a game or your rollin on a killstreak, but as a general guideline, you should aim for 7+ hours of sleep per night to optimize your recovery, muscle growth and even cognitive functioning for better focus and gaming.
Muscle Building Sleep Hack #2: Finish Carbs Earlier in Evening
When we eat a lot of carbs especially simple sugars, our body produces insulin to counter-act the blood-sugar spike and shuttle nutrients to either your muscles or fat stores.
Insulin also counter-acts the release of growth hormone which helps with building muscle and burning fat.
The maximum amount of growth hormone is naturally released within the first couple hours of sleep, so if you skyrocket insulin levels right before bed, you’re not going to be able to benefit from the super anabolic, muscle building and metabolism boosting effects of your natural growth hormone secretion at night.
You’ll also likely get a poorer quality sleep and feel less rested and more lethargic the next morning.
So finish off your carbs a couple hours before going to sleep to get a better quality sleep to ensure you’re maximizing your natural growth hormone release over night for greater muscle gains.
Muscle Building Sleep Hack #3: Eat Slow Digesting Protein Before Bed
This goes hand-in-hand with the second tip, instead of having a bunch of carbs before bed, you want to load up on slow digesting proteins, think eggs, cottage cheese, or a blended protein powder.
these will basically drip feed your muscles crucial amino acids – which are the building blocks of protein – that it needs to repair and rebuild your muscles to their full potential for more mass and strength.
So eat right and sleep right!
